We built this at 4am.
In the back room. Surrounded by gear.

Turnaround was built by people who've answered the phone at 7am to explain why the camera isn't ready.

Origin Story

The 4am spreadsheet moment

It was 4am and I was updating a spreadsheet. Again.

I ran a camera rental shop in Portland for six years. Good gear, loyal customers, solid reviews. But every weekend was the same dance: checking what came back, what needed cleaning, what was booked for tomorrow, and whether the math actually worked.

It usually didn't.

The tools I tried all had the same problem. They tracked inventory. They tracked bookings. But they didn't understand that a camera returned Saturday at 6pm isn't available Sunday at 8am. It needs cleaning. It needs charging. It needs checking.

I called this the "turnaround problem." And I kept waiting for someone to solve it.

No one did. So we built it.

The Insight

Rental software should understand rental reality

Most rental tools are built by software people who read about rental businesses. We built Turnaround after living in one.

Saturday returns create Monday problems

Customers will book items that aren't actually available

The busiest person can't also be the most careful person

Your calendar lies to you by default

Every feature in Turnaround exists because we felt the pain ourselves.

Our principles

01

Simple beats powerful

The best software is the software you actually use. If it takes a week to learn, you'll use it wrong — or not at all.

02

Defaults matter

Most people never change settings. So we made the defaults right. The buffer engine works out of the box.

03

Rental shops aren't enterprises

You don't need a platform. You need a tool. We built for the person answering the phone, not the committee approving software purchases.

04

Your time is the product

We're not building a platform to trap you. No lock-in, no data hostage. Export anytime. If we're not saving you time, you should leave.
